Free Your Books project

I have been sideline for a while from this blog. Been busy with my new project and going to run like a headless chicken around Malaysia to promote this concept.

Free Your Books project will need public to contribute their used books to us, and we will do something good with it.

I believe literacy can break the cycle of poverty. Our main goal is to setup libraries around Malaysia and to get Malaysians to read for free. We will then put some of the used books at the reading corners of certain specific locations. Lastly some sellable used books will be putting to sell online in order to cover the running cost of the project and a portion of the book sales goes to charity purposes.  This will promote environmental friendly concept around Malaysia with used books donated will not ended at landfill or storage boxes.

It is kind of new concept for Malaysia and I think most of the Malaysians will be curious on what we are doing right now. Statistic show that we, Malaysians seldom have a read on book, I think this is because we don't plant this beautiful culture since young.

Please help to spread the words on this concept and get this project run successfully in Malaysia.

Windows Live SkyDrive

Millions thanks to Microsoft that open to Malaysia for using the windows live skydrive. We now can enjoy online storage with just a click away. This is one of the convenience tools for people who like online storage and can share things online.

Windows Live SkyDrive offer a free with password-protected online storage and sharing space to access files and share with the people you choose. You can Access 5 GB of free storage from any online PC or Web-enabled mobile device. You can even drag and drop files directly from your PC to your SkyDrive with the optional upload tool. Maximum file that can upload to Skydrive is 50 MB. That is quite big.

Inside the skydrive, each folder has its own Web address that you can send in an e-mail, paste in a document, add as a favorite, save as a shortcut. This can ease people from sharing their files online and also for those who don’t prefer carry there files in their personal PC can store their file online and get download from any PC when go oversea or not beside their PC.

Online’s opportunity

I am working on something that really can work out and make me out from the daily work routine, and still struggling to find one. After move to new house, I think it’s time for me to rethink and create some web site to make some extra profit from my work.

I actively blogs for earn some extra money, but it seem like I failed to earn more to make my dream come thru, what should I do next? This is a big question for me. I will come out with some web site to create profit online, and I think this is the easiest way to take me out from the daily work. Don’t you think so?

Will see what I can do in the near future. Really need to unpack my things and start something before it’s too late (I am getting older. ) kekekeke..

Sometimes I have been thinking of share out my work and creation to public so that I can earn some reputation about my work. When Internet not created, people are publish their work and creation in newspapers, magazines, brochure and etc. now with Internet, people can promote their work by using web site or blog. You can create a web site or blogs to publish your work.

This is easier to share work with the world with web site and blogs, and it actually open up to the world market and not only local market. And with linking of web sites and blogs is so important for the SEO, people can simply extend their publicity of their web site by advertise at other’s web site or blogs.

And the cost of promoting works using web site and blogs are cheaper, compare to the traditional way of promoting. You can bid for the place in most famous web site to promote what your work and the click return are very high with more expensive payment.

You can easily find some product online, this is because people are moving to publish their work online nowadays. So, go ahead and register to get one domain for your work and starting to promote it thru your web site or blogs.

Putting Application Online

As internet technology is growing from day to day, online application is taking over the desktop application ranking in even internal admin system in some cooperation. My company is one of them. I am current converting some in house system to web base application, but one thing I might need to be careful of is security concern of the application.

Why people moving their application to put it online? This is because of the conveniences of the internet and the speed of the broadband been increasing from decade to decade. Online application become famous to all the company nowadays, does this mean that desktop application is no longer use in the future? I am not sure about that, but I can sure that people are keen to make their in house software online.

This can be ease staff work, as they can access the system from home and even work from home. Some of the IT companies are actually implementing working from home concept, and make use of the online application to control the in house application and submit using online system thru just a click from home.

We can see the web site technology also growing from day to day, from static web site to dynamic web site and even lots of web site are building with content management system as their backend system to control the content of their web site.

Scribd.com, I describe it as interesting site to share document online.
It features with easy to use function to search and upload files. Fast response content is the main advantage of the site to attract me from using it.

I have been using this site for last few months to search some document for personal use.

I highly recommend this site it’s because it provides free content for everyone from all around the world. And everyone can be publisher and upload their own story as long as never break Scridb’s rules.

Scridb.com allow people to upload Word (.doc), PDF (.pdf), text (.txt), PowerPoint (.ppt), Excel (.xls), Postscript (.ps), or LIT (.lit) file.

As I am writing my own journal now, I hope can publish my own creation soon.

Google Email/Share Widget

Google has launched a new service called Google Email/ Share Widget and it also known Google Shared Stuff. This is something like bookmark services for sharing web pages. The installation is you need to log on into the google account and add/install the service as one of the bookmark for your IE.

The Brief description will be seen at the main page:

Right-click the button below and select "add to Favorites". Then, respond "yes" to the security question, and choose the "Links" folder to add it to. If your links are not currently visible, right-click in the toolbar part of the browser and select "Links".

After Installation, the link will be added into your Favorite list.

Email-Share Link

Google Shared Stuff also creates a personal page for you where you can list out all the web page you have shared. You can also update your Google profile at the main page. The profile is directly transferred from your gmail profile, all the changes for profile will affect your main account profile setting.

2. Email the Web page you are currently browsing to a friend.

Do broadband service speeds impact surfing

Have to say that Malaysia’s service Provider been struggling to provide faster speed for broadband with cheap. If I am not mistaken, the maximum speed is 4MB. And it’s only provided at certain area. You might not able to get this service if you staying out of the town.
Will it be a major problem for subscriber? Do every individual felt frustrated with the slow speed surfing problem?

Technology is growing from day to day, web site is grow from static to dynamic and also now they treat web as a service. Which is one of the priciples of the Web 2.0.
Now lots of web site even provides online demo features for users to test the software online, but with slow access level, users are failed and frustrated with the web itself. In fact, the problem is the access download rate problem.

Microsoft just launch the windows Server 2008, I just went thru their web site. I feel very slow with the response time, it’s because of the bandwidth or website itself.
I really need some one to tell me on that.

I actually did quite some online shopping these days. You know, buying books, computers, or even gifts. Most of the online stores are able to offer very attractive rates.

I came across this website, named couponchief.com. It is a website that offers online coupons with very good deals. There are a number of big names in the featured stores, such as Dell, Adidas or even Amazon. I did find some very attractive Amazon deals, and since I did do some transactions with Amazon, I think I can save even more with CouponChief.com.

Found some very interesting Simpsons toys with KB Toys coupons. Hehe.. I am thinking perhaps I can get Teevan (who is now in Boston) to bring me back some when he is back later.

What is Podcasting?

Technology is growing from day to day. Today, every individual can also posting their own movies or music to the website provided for public viewing. Almost every single day, internet user is posting to online video portal and let the public user to view their video.

There is a new technology to share their video nowaday, which is called Podcast.

A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of such files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and personal computers. A "pod" refers to the iPod, and "cast" to the idea of broadcasting.

Syndication feeds is An RSS document, it can called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel", contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.

Podcasting can be used for publish and share Informational content provided by podcaster. Music also can be podcast promote clips and interviews. A lots of Talk Shows being podcasted by news, commentaries. Internet also can podcast their Training as Instructional informational materials. And to be famous in the world, internet user like to podcast their Story.
